Neelakurinji is a shrub that flowers once in 12 years. It is found in the Western Ghats of Kerala in South India. Its scientific name is Strobilanthes kunthiana. Nilgiri Hills become blue due to presence of purplish blue flowers of Neelakurinji that blossoms during this time.
