2. The shortest phase of a cell cycle is:

(i) M phase is considered the shortest phase in the cell cycle.

4. The different stages or phases of the cell cycle are-

(i) G1 phase, S phase, G2 phase, and M phase.

(ii) The total time duration of a cell cycle is for 24 hours.

(iii) Among these, the G1 phase is of about 11 hours,

(iv) The S phase is of about 7 hours,

(v) The G2 phase is of about 4 hours and the M phase is of 2 hours.

(vi) Therefore, the M phase is called the shortest phase of the cell cycle.
