What is the significance of cell membrane biogenesis?

All living cells are surrounded by a cell membrane, which is made up of molecules with hydrophilic outer parts and hydrophobic inner parts. If a cell cannot manufacture new membrane to offset damage & normal wear and tear it will die. If the membrane is ruptured acutely in most cases also the cell will die. So membrane biogenesis (making new membrane) is essential for the continuing life of the cell.
