Solution: The Second Continental Congress met on 10 May 1775 in Philadelphia. Some of the prominent members were John Adams, Sam Adams, Richard Henry Lee and Thomas Jefferson.
  • It organized the army gathered around Boston as the Continental Army and placed it under the command of George Washington.
  • It dispatched ‘the Olive Branch Petition to the king and adopted the Declaration of the Causes and Necessity of Taking up Arms.
  • In July 1775, it appointed Commissioners to negotiate with Native Americans.
  • It also established a Postal Department with Benjamin Franklin as Postmaster-General.
  • A Committee was also formed to explore the possibility of foreign aid.
