Solution
Development of testicles/testes:
Testes are the primary sex organs in males.
The testes are the paired oval structures that develop adjacent to the kidneys in the abdominal cavity.
After childbirth, the testes descend into the scrotal sac which encloses the testes.
Significance of scrotal sac:
The presence of the testes in the scrotal sac outside the abdomen helps in the production of sperms at a temperature which is 2-3°C below the normal body temperature.
This helps in maintaining the sperms in a viable condition as they are sensitive to high temperatures.
During winters, there is a contraction of the scrotal sac moving the testes close to the abdomen for warmth and during summers, the skin of the scrotal sac is loosened which pushes the testes down away from the abdomen to be maintained at a lower temperature.
