The source of energy for photosynthesis:
- Sunlight is the source of energy for photosynthesis.
- This energy is absorbed by the chlorophyll and used in splitting water molecules into H+ ions and OH− ions.
Subsequently, a series of chemical reactions occur:
1. Oxygen from OH− ion is released into the air.
2. Hydrogen ions (H+) combine with carbon dioxide to form glucose (C6H12O6).
