Question

What is the speed of light in air and in the vacuum?

Open in App
Solution

The refractive index of air is about 1.0003, and from this equation we can find that the speed of visible light in air is about 90 km/s slower than c.
c (3×108m/s) is speed of light in vacuum. The speed of light is slightly slower in the air than in vacuum.
