Dear student,
Structure of ecosystem includes biotic and abiotic components. Abiotic components includes inorganic elements like phosphorous, sulphur, carbon, nitrogen and hydrogen involved in different cycles and inorganic chemicals like chlorophyll and organic chemicals like proteins, carbohydrates and lipids available in environment and biomass. Biotic component includes all the living organism (autotrophic and heterotrophic) utilising abiotic components.
Function of ecosystem: Ecosystem functions by utilizing sun's energy through plants (producers) which is consumed by consumers. The biomass formed by the consumer by utilising chemical energy of the producer is decomposed by decomposers. Some form of energy is lost by the respiration, heat, and excretion. There is the unidirectional flow of energy in the ecosystem.
