Question
What is the sure test of a magnet?
Open in App
Solution
A magnet is a substance that attracts magnetic materials.
Every magnet has two poles; the north pole and the south pole.
Similar poles repel each other and opposite poles attract each other.
Attraction occurs between the magnet as well as the opposite poles of the magnet.
But repulsion
occurs only when two like poles of a magnet exist.
Thus,
repulsion is the sure test of a magnet as repulsion is only possible with a similar pole of another magnet.
