Solution

The correct option is E 48
The term ploidy refers to the number of chromosome sets found in the nucleus of the cells. Haploid and diploid cells differ in the number of chromosome sets found in the nucleus, cells with two sets of chromosomes are diploid and those with one set are known as haploid. Through the process of meiotic division, a diploid cell gives rise to four haploid cells. However, during the process of reproduction the haploid cells unite to form a diploid zygote. If any organism has a haploid of 24 chromosomes, the total number of chromosomes in its diploid stage will be 48 chromosomes ( 24x2)
