Open in App
Solution

Transverse thoracic plane:

  1. The mediastinum is first categorized into the inferior and superior mediastinum by a midsagittal imaginary line known as the transverse thoracic plane
  2. The sternal angle, which is created by the manubrium and sternum coming together, as well as the T4-T5 thoracic vertebral area are both traversed by this plane.
  3. Since it passes by the previously mentioned structures, such as the base of the aorta, the bifurcation of the trachea and pulmonary trunk, and the superior edge of the pericardium, this plane can be used as a landmark.
