  1. Positive zero error occurs if zero on the vernier scale lies on right side of zero on the main scale. If the error is positive, correction is negative.
  2. A negative zero error occurs if zero on the vernier scale lies on the left side of zero on the main scale. If the error is negative, correction is positive.
