Solution

Adaptation in lion:

  1. Adaptation is a long-term behavioral or physical modification in a living organism such as plants and animals that helps it survive in its habitat better.
  2. Grasslands are regions with abundant grass populations. Lion, Tiger, etc. are the commonly found predators of grassland that preys on animals such as deer.
  3. Due to the absence of big trees, the chances of catching prey by a predator are quite high.
  4. The lions are the apex predators of the grasslands. They have adapted some characteristics to increase the chances of catching their prey such as:
  • Long sharp and strong claws are present in the front legs to help with a better grip on the prey and tear off their flesh.
  • These claws are retractable to avoid being worn out and blunt when the lion walks.
  • The eyes are situated in front of the head to estimate the location of prey standing at a great distance with high precision.
