  1. A solution consists of two components i.e. solute and solvent.
  2. Solvents are the components that are present in the maximum amount in the solution.
  3. Solutes are the components that are present in limited amount.
  4. Water is a polar molecule so it can dissolve many compounds other than non-polar substances.
  5. The polarization allows different molecules to attract other molecules as well.
  6. Water can dissolve maximum number of solute into it.
  7. Due to this property, water is considered as universal solvent.
