Solution

Herbarium:

It is a systematic arrangement of collected plant leaves, other plant parts, or the whole plant.

Museum:

The place where the plants and animal species are collected to conserve, research, and exhibit the specimen.

The use of herbarium and museum:

  1. The herbarium is a documentation of various species of plants belonging to a particular geographical area which is an important source of information like plant hierarchy, plant diversity, plant habitat, and identification of plant species.
  2. Museums on the other hand preserve plant species with the help of preservatives which aids in studying the morphological characteristics of plants; for example how an extinct plant species looked can be a good source of information to study environmental changes that caused the extinction.
  3. The herbarium is an important source for studying and research related to existing and extirpated plant species
