$22 x - 12 = 36 - 2 x$

Adding 12 to both sides

$22 x - 12 + 12 = 36 - 2 x + 12$

$22 x = 48 - 2 x$

Adding 2x on both sides.

$22 x + 2 x = 48 - 2 x + 2 x$

$24 x = 48$

divide both sides by 24,

$\frac{24 x}{24} = \frac{48}{24}$

$x = \frac{48}{24}$

$x = 2$
