What is the vernier constant of Vernier Callipers?

The least count (LC) of the Vernier Calipers is known as vernier constant (VC). It is the difference between one main scale division and one vernier scale division, i.e $V C = 1 M S D - 1 V S D$
If n divisions on vernier scale coincide with (n-1) main scale divisions so the vernier constant will be , $V C = (1 - \frac{n - 1}{n}) 1 M S D = \frac{1 M S D}{n}$
