what is the volume at stp of .85g of ammonia

Open in App
Solution

Dear Student,

At STP, one mole of a gas occupies 22.4 L of volume.

So first, we calculate the number of moles of ammonia.
Given mass of ammonia = 0.85 g
Molar mass of ammonia = 17 g mol-1
Number of moles = Given massMolar Mass = 0.8517= 0.05Now, one mole contains 22.4 L.Therefore, 0.05 mole contains :Volume of ammonia = 0.05 × 22.4 = 1.12 L

Hence, volume of 0.85 g of ammonia at STP is 1.12 L.
