Given:
The output work of the machine, O.W.=25 J
The efficiency of the machine, E=55%=55100=0.55
We know that the efficiency of a machine is the ratio of the output work to the input work, i.e. if I.W. is the work put into the machine then,
E=O.W.I.W.
0.55=25I.W.
I.W.=250.55=250055=50011
I.W.=45.45 J
