Open in App
Solution

Electromagnet :

  1. It is defined as a magnet that is driven by electricity.
  2. It can be adjusted by altering the amount of electric current flowing through it.
  3. The property of magnetism is lost when the current flow is interrupted

Principle :

  1. It works on the principle of the magnetic effect of electric current.
  2. It consists of a long coil of insulated copper wire wrapped around a soft iron core that is magnetized only when an electric current passed through the coil.
  3. To make an electromagnet, one required a rod of soft iron and wind a coil of insulated copper wire around it.
  4. When the two ends of the copper coil are connected to a battery, an electromagnet is formed.
