When a hot body and cold body are brought in contact with each other, energy flows between them.
The energy flows from the hot body to the cold body.
The energy which is transferred is heat energy or simply heat.
The energy stored in a substance due to absorption of heat is known as thermal energy.
The SI unit of thermal energy is Joule. Its symbol is J.
