  2. Example: When a tuning fork or any other vibrating body continues vibrating, the region of compression alternates with the region of rarefaction.
  3. Regions of compression and rarefaction continue alternating at the same place, but the energy travels outward.
  4. There is no transfer of matter, but energy transfer occurs.
