Solution

The correct option is C

vertical

The organisms in an ecosystem are classified into 3 main categories-producers, consumers and decomposers. The consumers utilize materials and energy stored by the producers. Decomposers obtain their food molecules from the dead remains of producers and consumers. In an ecosystem, producers out-number the consumers (herbivores and carnivores), because the consumers cannot utilize all the energy stored in the producers. Therefore a greater number of producers are required to sustain the primary consumers, and relatively higher number of primary consumers are required to maintain the secondary consumers.
