Question

What is tuger pressure

Open in App
Solution

The pressure developed by the fluid in a plant cell, against the cell wall, as a result of endosmosis is called turgor pressure. Turgid plant cells contain more water than flaccid cells and exert a greater osmotic pressure on its cell walls.

The force exerted outward on a plant cell wall by the water contained in the cell is called turgor force. This force gives the plant rigidity, and may help to keep it erect. Turgor pressure can result in the bursting of a cell.

Endosmoasis:- The movement of liquid from outside to inside is known as endosmosis. It takes place in hypotonic solution.
