Solution

Definition of Ureotelism:

  1. In all mammals and some fishes, urea is the major nitrogenous end product of protein metabolism.
  2. The process of release of urea from an animal's body is known as ureotelism.
  3. It is the process by which animals that do not reside in areas with abundant water transform ammonia generated in the body into urea in the liver.

Formation of urea:

  1. Urea is present in the urine of all mammals, as well as in blood, bile, milk, and sweat.
  2. It is a less hazardous molecule than ammonia because it eliminates two nitrogen atoms and requires less water to excrete.
  3. After that, It is released into the bloodstream, where it is filtered before being expelled by the kidneys.
  4. However, part of the urea content may linger in the kidneys, where it will later aid in osmolarity maintenance.
