  1. Ursa Major, popularly called the Great Bear, is the northern hemisphere's largest constellation. Out of the 88 constellations in the sky, it is the third-largest.
  2. The name means "bigger she-bear" in Latin. When compared to Ursa Minor, also known as the lesser bear, Ursa Major is known as the greater (or larger) bear.
