UV rays stands for Ultraviolet rays. It is a form of electromagnetic radiation which have frequency range higher than that of visible light rays but less than that of the X-rays.
These rays are not visible from naked eye and are harmful to human beings if exposed to them.
It is emitted by the Sun as well as some man- made sources(mercury vapour lights, halogen lights)
