Valence shell- The outermost shell of an atom is known as the valence shell of that atom.

Valence electrons - Number of electrons present in the outermost shell are called valence electrons.

For example, Sulphur (S)16 - 2K, 8L, 6M

So, M is the valence shell and 6 are valence electrons.
