Vegetative Propagation:

  1. This type of reproduction is generally seen in plants with distinct vegetative parts namely the roots, stems and leaves.
  2. Reproduction by vegetative parts is also known as vegetative propagation.
  3. vegetative propagation can either be by natural methods or by artificial methods.

Advantages:

  • The characteristics present in the parent plant are retained in the daughter plants.
  • This is a faster way of growing new plants.
  • It is the most certain method of propagation as this method does not depend on any external agent.

Disadvantages:

  • There is overcrowding as no dispersal occurs.
  • Since the daughter plants are identical to the parent plant, there is no variation.
  • The disease of the parent plant can get transferred to the daughter plants.
