Question
What is vernalin hormone?

Solution
Vernalin & Vernalisation:
Vernalin is a hypothetical plant hormone that is synthesised under a low-temperature treatment during vernalization, which induces flowering.
It is the induction of the flowering process of the plant by exposure to long periods of cold winter or such conditions.
Once the process takes place, plants develop the capability of flowering.
However, this may necessitate extra seasonal weeks of growing before they flower.
The metabolically active apical meristems are sites of perception of temperature to initiate flowering.
The younger leaves seem to be more susceptible to the process of vernalization.
The shoot apex of mature stems or embryos of seeds receives a low-temperature stimulus.
