Dear Student,
Weight is the force acting on body under the influence of gravitational force.
Weight acts in the direction of gravity. On earth the gravitational pull acts downward so weight has the same direction.
weight = mass ×gravity
weight of the object is not same on Earth and moon because the acceleration due to gravity on moon is 1/6 of that on earth hence the weight on moon is 1/6th that on moon.
