Solution
The wind is the movement of air, caused by the uneven heating of the earth by the sun and the earth's own rotation. In other words, the movement of air from a region of high pressure to a region of low pressure is termed as wind.
The instrument that is used to measure the direction of the wind is termed as a Wind vane.
The instrument that is used to measure the speed of wind is known as an Anemometer. As the wind flows over the combination of wind vane and anemometer commonly called a windmill anemometer, the speed and direction of the wind can be measured with this instrument.
