What kind of electric charge is acquired:
(a) by a glass rod rubbed with silk cloth?
(b) by a plastic comb rubbed with dry hair?
(a) When you are rubbing the glass rod with the silk cloth, electrons are stripped away from the atoms in the glassand transferred to the silk cloth. This leaves the glass rod with more positive than negative charge, so you get a net positive charge.
(b) A plastic comb when rubbed with dry hair gets charged. This is because the electrons present in our hair particles move to the comb and the comb has excessive negative charge which means that the comb has net negative charge.
