Solution

Grain storage can be done in multiple ways including jute bags, granaries, and silos.

  1. Grains are a very attractive treat for rodents and insects.
  2. It also can get affected by microbes if they are not stored with proper precautions.
  3. In order to store grains they must be dried well and should be devoid of their moisture content.
  4. If the freshly harvested grains after threshing are stored without drying, they would get spoiled by the microbes and lose their germinating ability.
  5. The containers or bags are sprayed with insecticides to keep the insects away.
  6. Chemical insecticides are deployed when we store grains in silos and granaries.
  7. Turmeric or neem leaves act as a natural insect repellent and is used in small-scale storage.
  8. Proper temperature is to be maintained so that the microbes don't get the chance to grow.
