Open in App
Solution

Ribosomes:

  1. Ribosomes are intracellular structures within the plasma membrane that perform biological protein synthesis.
  2. Ribosomes are of rRNA and proteins.
  3. Ribosomes have two major components- the tiny, ribosomal subunit reads the RNA and the large subunit that joins amino acids to make a polypeptide chain.
  4. Each subunit consists of one or more ribosomal RNA molecules and proteins.
  5. Ribosome is the site of protein synthesis.
  6. The ribosome is seen both as a free particle likewise as particles attached to the membrane of the endoplasmic reticulum.
  7. Therefore ribosomes are made from proteins.

Therefore ribosomes are made of proteins.
