Question

What makes a secondary cell rechargeable

Open in App
Solution

Dear student,

Secondary cell works on the principle of electrochemistry. They are the galvanic cells where chemical energy is converted to electrical energy.
They consist of a reversible cell reaction that allows them to regain potential which makes a secondary cell rechargeable.
To recharge the secondary cell, a current is passed in the opposite direction, opposite to the flow of current when it was charged and in use. This is the way to recharge the secondary cell.
