  1. Chloroplast is a membrane-bound organelle present in all green plants and algae.
  2. They contain chlorophyll pigments that trap sunlight and participate in photosynthesis.
  3. Chlorophyll D and Chlorophyll F is referred to as red chlorophyll found in marine red algae and cyanobacteria.
  4. These pigments absorb infrared light and make the chloroplasts appear reddish.
  5. Chlorophyll B is the yellow pigment that absorbs light energy for photosynthesis.
  6. It is present in all higher plants and green algae and is referred to as the helper pigment.
