What makes RBCs look red in colour?
Haemoglobin
RBCs are red due to haemoglobin present in them. Haemoglobin is a protein combined with 'heme' which contains an iron molecule. The haemoglobin molecule perform the function of carrying oxygen to all parts of the body. Hemocyanin is a green pigment that contains 'copper' that transports oxygen in insects. Pepsin is an enzyme present in the stomach which helps in digestion.
