  2. The endoplasmic reticulum is divided into two types namely, rough endoplasmic reticulum and smooth endoplasmic reticulum.
  3. The smooth endoplasmic reticulum (SER) is a tubular structure that does not consist of ribosomes.
  4. The absence of ribosomes in the smooth endoplasmic reticulum makes it smooth.
