What makes the concept map of fermentation in yeast complete?
1 – Glucose, 2- O2, 3- Ethyl alcohol
During Fermentation, Yeast acts on its substrate (Glucose- 6 carbon compound) and converts it into ethanol and carbon dioxide in the absence of oxygen. Glucose is first converted into a 3-carbon compound, Pyruvate before it is converted to end products. This mode of respiration is called anaerobic respiration.
