What makes up the skeletal system?
Bones
The adult human skeletal system consists of 206 bones, as well as a network of tendons, ligaments and cartilage that connects them. Cartilage is an important structural component of the skeletal system. It is a firm tissue but is softer and much more flexible than bone. Cartilage is found in the nose and ear. The skeletal system performs many functions — support, movement, protection, calcium storage. Nerves are a part of the nervous system. Blood is part of the circulatory system and muscles are part of the muscular system.
