What measure would you take to prevent water- borne diseases ?
Water-borne diseases such as cholera, typhoid, hepatitis B, etc. spread by drinking contaminated water.
To prevent water borne diseases, following measures are required
(i) Drinking water should be clean, free from contamination. This could be achieved by filtration, boiling, sedimentation and chemical treatment of water.
(ii) Water resources/ reservoirs should be periodically de-contaminated/disinfected.
(iii) Water should not be allowed to stand for long time as it become breeding pools.
(iv) Standard practices of hygiene should be strictly maintained in public catering.
