Molarity(M):

  • It can be defined as the number of moles of solute divided by the volume of the solution in liters.
  • Hence, the formula can be given as: M=nV where, n = number of moles of solute and V= volume of the solution in liters.
  • 10% NaOH means 100ml of solution containing 10g of NaOH.
  • Given that, the number of NaOH solution = 10%.

The molar mass of NaOH = 40g/mol.

Thus, the number of moles 10% NaOH = 1040=14= 0.25moles

Volume of 10% NaOH solution = 1001000 = 0.1L.

Molarity(M) = 0.250.1= 2.5M.

Hence, the Molarity(M) of 10% NaOH = 2.5M.
