Let the expression to be added be $y$ .

$(x^{3} + 3 x - 8) + y = 3 x^{3} + x^{2} + 6 \Rightarrow y = (3 x^{3} + x^{2} + 6) - (x^{3} + 3 x - 8)$

$3 x^{3} + x^{2} + 6$
$x^{3} + 3 x - 8$
