Given that: What must be subtracted from $3 x - 2 y$ to get $2 x + 5 y$ .
That means, subtracting $2 x + 5 y$ from $3 x - 2 y$ .
$= 3 x - 2 y - (2 x + 5 y)$
$= 3 x - 2 y - 2 x - 5 y = 3 x - 2 x - 2 y - 5 y = x - 7 y$
Therefore, $x - 7 y$ must be subtracted from $3 x - 2 y$ to get $2 x + 5 y$ .
