Given ratio is 5:37
Let the number which is to be added to each term of given ratio be a
Now the given ratio becomes (5+a):(37+a) , Given that it is equal to 1:3
5+a37+a=13
15+3a=37+a
2a=22
a=11
Therefore number 11 should be added to each term of the ratio 5:37 to make it equal to 1:3
