  1. Blood is a fluid connective tissue that consists of plasma, blood cells, and platelets.
  2. It circulates throughout our body delivering oxygen and nutrients to various cells and tissues it makes up 8% of our body weight.
  3. RBCs, WBCs, and platelets account for 45% of the blood, collectively.
  4. Specifically, the platelets are less than one per cent.
  5. The normal range of platelets or thrombocytes present in the blood is 1,50,000 – 3,50,000 per cubic millimetre in a healthy individual.
  6. Thrombocytes are specialized blood cells produced from bone marrow.
  7. Platelets are mainly involved in blood coagulation.
