  1. Infectious diseases are illnesses caused by microorganisms such as bacteria, viruses, fungus, and protozoa, and they are spread through direct contact or some other means (air, water, vectors).
  2. Infectious diseases include chickenpox, influenza (the common cold), etc.

To minimize the spread of infectious diseases, we can take the following precautions:-

  1. The diseased child/girl should not be allowed to attend school.
  2. To kill germs, drinking water should be treated.
  3. Mosquito breeding grounds must be eliminated.
  4. Public hygiene should be emphasized.
  5. Students should be inoculated with vaccines if they are available.
