Seed Coat:

  1. A seed coat protects the internal parts of a seed. The seed coat has two layers.
  2. The outer layer is thick and known as the testa. The inner layer is thin and known as tegmen.

Peeling of seed coat of soaked bean causes:

  1. When the seed coat of a soaked bean is peeled, then the remaining, parts of the seed are a bean embryo has the embryo axis and two fleshy cotyledons.
  2. The embryo axis is made of the radicle and hypocotyl, at one end and the plumule and epicotyl at the other terminal.
  3. Two fleshy cotyledons are also attached in between epicotyl and hypocotyl, cotyledons provide food for early embryonal growth.
  4. Radicle gives rise to the root system and plumule gives rise to the shoot system.
