The correct option is A 6 Ω
Given:
Value of resistance, R1 = 4 Ω
Equivalent resistance to be obtained, Req = 2.4 Ω
Let the new resiatance be R2.
For a parallel combination of resistors,
Req=R1×R2R1+R2
2.4=R2×44+R2
9.6+2.4R2=4R2
R2=9.61.6=6 Ω
So, to make an equivalent of 2.4 Ω, a resistance of 6 Ω needs to be connected in parallel to the given resistance.
